Hey, I saw you at the kingston rose theatre. It was truly amazing and inspiring... As a fellow guitar player I was wondering if or how I can get tabs for your songs? Thanks.

J Wood - Mon 1st Sep 15:05 2008

Wow - what an amazing gig you did at the 'Small World' Sunday! I am still enchanted, glowing with happiness and humming "It's a fine, fine world!" in my head and sometimes out loud. In the last decade I have seen many of your gigs from 'Earth Spirit', to the 'Big Green Gathering' and the Brighton 'Comedia'. This was the best ever - from a gifted girl and fantastic singer/songwriter you have grown into an amazing women and charismatic artist! Congratulations to your ever evolving and growing talent and the little one growing within. Cant't wait for a new album. Love to you and your family. DoraXXXX

Dora - Wed 27th Aug 7:47 2008

Being a big fan of your dad I came to Otterton Mill expecting to have to politely sit through your stuff before the main event. How wrong I was! Within 30 seconds I had totally changed my mind and was disappointed when you finished. The 2 cds are now permanent fixtures in the car. Good luck with the developing family. Steve

Steve Morgan - Mon 25th Aug 5:50 2008

I heard your music for the first time not many moons ago at my friend Andy's and was blown away. Your songs are like poems- powerful, memorable.....haunting.And the arrangements of the music is unusual, sensitive, individualistic. I think ' Of Milkmaids and Architects' is just extraordinary and I have listened and re-listened...something I rarely do with albums. Look forward to hearing more. Thanks so much for your music. Well, I came to borrow a chair and met a friend. A chance meeting at a folk festival. Spending time with you, Robin, Matt and Tim was fun enough. Talking about music was a bonus and then hearing you all play at the festival was a total treat. I love it when the Universe offers us chance meetings that open us up and make us feel a little less apart from the world. Yay you all. xxx Jamie Saxe

Jamie Saxe - Tue 11th Mar 7:55 2008

Martha, caught your Friday night show at Port Fairy, and after 'Golden Surfer' you had me hooked. I thought your Monday arvo show (Stage 5) was more intimate and even better. Your performance of 'Good World' gave me such an emotional high that I'll be on cloud nine for many days. Love your songs, love your work. You have a classic folk singer voice but with a contemporary edge. I'll be playing your songs on my radio program on Warrnambool's community radio station 3WAY-FM over the next few weeks. Cheers, and hope you had a great time at Port Fairy.

Craig - Mon 10th Mar 22:03 2008

So Martha, Your performances at Port Fairy were fantastic, we loved the sound and listened to your cds all the way back to Melbourne. Hope that the rest of your travels around Aus goes well and that you will soon grace our shores again, perhaps with the whole forest!! (All the woods). Look forward to your return, jo

Hi Martha, I was wondering whether it might be possible for me to make an animated music video based on one of your songs. I am an illustrator/animator in my final year at university in Bristol, and after seeing you play at the Louisiana recently, would love the chance to make a animation to your music. For an example of a previous animation I made you can look on the channel 4 fourdocs website at the following link: http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film-detail.jsp?id=61045 The subject matter and therefore imagery in that film are dark, but I think the approach of morphing images, when accompanied with colour, would work really well to flow around the lyrical narrative of one of your songs. I thought 'Red' would work particularly well, but obviously that would be your call. PLease let me know if you would be happy for me to do this, Many thanks and best wishes George

It was so professional, tight, exciting, relaxed with not one hiccup (but with lots of giggling and good humour going on in the back row..!) The band are an amazing bunch of musicians. So refreshing from the usual line-up-so talented And versatile! I remember hearing you for the first time when you were a tiny doormouse and how you've grown. I have so much respect for you. Hi Martha + gang, Just a quick e-mail to say that there is no justice in the world, coz if there was Martha Tilston & The Woods would be massive and famous everywhere - instead of mediocre, hyped-up dross like Madonna or Brittany Spears. I love the album of 'Of Milkmaids & Architects' so much that I have alrady bought three extra copies and given them to my friends (the ones who are proper into music, that is). 'Winter Flowers' in stunning I mean, TRULY BRILLIANT and, Martha, your voice is exquisite. This song makes me cry it is so beautiful and heartfelt. I also love all the rest in general, particularly 'Artificial', 'Songs That Make Sophie Fizz' and 'Music Of The Moon'. I am not in the habit of e-mailing singer/songwriters randomly as a rule; however the above album is exceptional and Martha's is in the top five femail voices I have ever heard in my life. It burns with soul and passion. It is truly electric. What a gift to be able to sing like that!! So I want to thank everyone involved in the band and making the album for truly embelleshing my rather dull existence and Martha for the great lyric on 'Artificial' that I can relate to, absolutely, concerning her feelings in the work place. Hopefully I can catch you guys in Trowbridge (I went to college there and so know the area) in June. Either way, keep going as long as possible, coz your guys are very, very special (and I have about 2 - 3 hundred music CDs - let alone records and tapes - covering most genres, so I like to think my opinion is worth something!), Cheers guys, Gordon

Really enjoyed your gig at The Grey Horse in Kingston last night. Nice crowd and venue, Nathan Bell from The Ballinsky Project played a really nice warm-up. It was the first acoustic gig I'd been to a long time, and was great to hear and see musicians really enjoying what they do, all in such an informal setting. Free cake as well!!! Marvellous! Look forward to the gig at Battersea Arts Centre in May. (o;

Fantastic gig with your dad at Hebden Bridge last week - though I was gutted to have to leave before your joint set to get my last train. You were right - they are lucky buggers who live up there!! Now that your dad's one of them, I hope we'll be seeing more of you up North. The gig at the Lowry in Salford was good, but I thought the venue was rather posh and stifling for someone like you - there was a much better atmosphere and louder singalongy bits at that tiny trades club - what a lovely venue!!! Hope to see you at the Big Green Gathering this year - it was there that i first saw you (as half a Mouse - it was the year they held it by the lake) - and I've seen you at every one since - your music really sums up this fantastic festival for me! Finally, I missed the free download last year - is there any way of getting hold of these tracks now?

Your voice was Beautiful, power and light all rolled into one. My wife is not a big folk fan (more into 70's prog) but she was also well impressed. Look foreward to seeing you again sometime in the future. I think Ive persuaded Angela to come to the Fairport Gig in March (at LBT) and last nights gig helped to do this Thanks again

Dear Martha, Saw you for the first time at Bridgwater Arts Centre on 18th Jan. I have been a dedicated listener to your father's music and have been wanting to watch him play live ever since I can remember. Having missed his gigs in the past for several foolish reasons it was a complete delight to finally listen to him live upfront. I did enjoy your song ìRedî very much as the song captured wonderful lyrics and fine story telling. Your song ìArtificial Meî, ìSong for the moonî were tenderly written and delicately composed. Your voice was lovely and very subtle, dreamy and effortlessly scintillating. All in all, wonderful evening and excellent listening. Feel free to drop me an email if you wish to give me a free guitar lesson. Hehe. Keep up the good melodies

I too heard you on Womans Hour, in my van on the way to a gardening job in Tavistock. Artificial totally hit a chord and reminded me of my working life as a graduate job in Cheltenham for 2 years, which like you, I managed to break free of. They're vending machines were pretty awful too (but still a highlight of the day)! You were fantastic at Bridgewater Arts Centre the other night, some of your lyrics really speak to me...

Hi Martha, Your fans might be interested that the guitar you kindly signed in December is now on eBay for auction. Your signature is just one of over 30 signatures, including Amy Wadge, John Tams, Dougie MacLean, Richioe Havens, Ralph McTell, Gretchen Peters, etc etc. It's all in aid of 3 cancer charities - anyone interested in bidding should go to the Acoustic Sussex website or search on eBay under Collectables.(last bids 28 January). PS. Great album review in the Telegraph yesterday.

Well, well. Here I am again after a delightful Small World festival. Just a few words from an old fan. I first saw Martha as part of Mouse @ the good old ID Spiral Mellouts ages & ages back. Talking to her on the sofa for a few minutes, then the next thing I know sheís on stage mesmerizing the audience and me. After 7 long years look where things are now! Gigs at the Scala and all. Iíd like to say that I love the way Martha never forgets her fans or where she comes from. Playing small festivals and gigs like Small World and Wupadupa + a free album. We appreciate all the hard work Martha. Much love and happiness LeChatNoir.

You will be amused to hear that I am now a huge fan of yours, and how I became one: a communal mp3-blog-type-thing over at livejournal. Someone posted a recommendation of your song Firefly, which I then had to download because I'm just that much of a Browncoat. I knew it had nothing to do with the show at all, but I had to listen to it anyway, because of the name similarity. So you now have one more fan from the US.

My sister saw you live in London and bought 2 copies of Bimbling, one for me for my birthday. So, as we shlepped boxes into our new communal house here in Santa Cruz California, I was playing the album and then had the cool experience of first a guy than another woman wanting to put it on repeat (and we do live "5 minutes from the sea"!). Now my sister gave me heads-up for the free album and it is downloading as I write this. Amnesty Kingston has to begin the long process of thanking everyone who took part in the 4th Freedom Festival - but we have to start with Martha. Why? Not just because she brought in the crowds on a rather sleepy and very sunny (for October) Sunday afternoon but also for her beautiful music. Even watching you during rehearsals, with that team of great individual musicians in formation behind you, brought a chill to the spine. I, for one, am still listening to your album all these weeks later. Thanks for all your support over the years, the festival goes from strength to strength and I hope your music gets the recognition it deserves. Ash & other Kingston Amnestyites.

Saw you with Roddy Frame at Southport and love your, playing, voice and songs. I bought your cd, which you signed, and which is brilliant. I'll look out for you in the future. If you ever get offered a gig at the Furness Tradition folk club please say yes, it's a very unatmospheric gig but I wouldn't have to travel! Good luck for the future.

Hi Martha. Met you at Creative Liquied a lifetime ago. You blew me away so I bought the Mouse Tales album and listened to it whilst sitting in one of S. Dali's favourite hideaways in Spain. Felt instantly inspired to write. Just checked out your site and discovered people getting excited about Bimbling and so I simply had to buy it. Cant wait to be stunned, taken on a journey and once again inspired to write. Disappointed you are not playing at Buddahfield this year. Jules from Wonky Beak (Brighton based band). Hello! At the Marrs Bar in Worcester I was the extremely drunk red dreadlocked purveyor of blissfully tax free Golden angina which you swapped for one of your CDs.I'd just like to apologise for claiming that I was getting a bad deal (Cartoons aside) as your album is great,as were you on the night.Apparently my employer Mr Maher has booked you for next year so thats a night I won't be working and thats something to look forward to.All the best for the rest of the tour.Best wishes.Deacs.

Hi Martha... Saw you at the 100 Club last night, you had to shift me out of the way before you started if you remember (shaven headed chap next to the pillar!!) I didn't know who you were then, but I do now. You are beautiful, talented and I'm very glad I got there early (abnormal for me!) to catch your gig. Just a shame people talked through a lot of it. I now feel inspired to start writing music again myself, so thanks for that. -xx-

Just watched you play with Nick Harper (not literally, of course) at Telford's in sunny Chester. Loved your voice, and admired your fingers. Want to write some lyrics for you (thought your lyrics were a touch 'introspective'). Good fun when you intro'd the folk song though. Willie indeed, you cheeky lady!

Hi. I am writing from the states. First heard Martha's voice on a Mono compilation. Searched her out on the 'net and found this site. Ordered the Rolling CD. I just received it and have spent the better part of the day listening. Martha calls it raw, but I have found it to be very true and delicate. I am hopeful to share it will someone who will play it for a large audience. It is nice to share.

I came to the amnesty festival and the moosic and people were bootiful. On Saturday night I was walking out of the gig only to hear Martha shout 'Goodnight Warren'. I swiflty turned around to greet and goodnight her. I then turned back and walked straight into a traffic light post and fell full slapstick on my back. Laughing and joking I said my goodnight and went on to hide behind the bus stop. Martha played on the following Sunday night and it was her first song that made me want to cry. The music from the band was awesome and really lifting. Martha has a talent for bowing ones heart strings. She made my knees go wobbly and my abilty to speak to her now sounds like a bad excuse for not stealing chocolate in my mums fridge. xxx

I met Martha after Terrafolks gig a couple of weeks b4 but missed her performance so came along to Fri3oct03 gig @ Grey Orse under her recommendation. I wasn't expecting to have tears in my mince pies. Especially by the 2/3 song. Sooo beautiful. I went in there kinda blue. I came out feeling like most of my emotional buttons had been pressed/massaged and happy as Larry the lamb. I felt Inspired and ready to carry on with mission on making moosic 2 (baa 2).
