Poet Paradox in urgent need of help

The Matrix

We thought we'd spread the word about a very dear friend of ours, the performance poet Paradox (also known as Chris or Rodney (!!), whom some of you may know or have seen at past wupadupa events) was recently very seriously injured abroad and is in urgent need of money to pay for the high medical bills and repaying plane fare costs to get him back home as quickly as possible.

Please check out the full details below but the latest news is that a very kind person has paid the money to fly him home to England where he can receive specialist treatment.

We're making our next wupadupa gig this Friday evening 18th July at the Grey Horse into a fundraising event for him, and will be giving all the money we make from it to the people raising money for Rodney.

Any money you can spare would be most welcome. I've been given 2 Paypal accounts which you can transfer funds to plus a Western Union account. These all belong to people who are dear friends of Paradox and who have been helping to look after him since the accident so you can be sure the money will go straight to where it's needed.

Wester Union Transfer to Western Union in Oaxaca state, Mex. In the name of Patricia-Anne Blanchet who is taking care of the bills, which currently stand at around £7,500

Also there are 2 paypal accounts,

Many thanks for your time!!

FEW DAYS AGO, OUR DEAR BROTHER BADLY INJURED HIMSELF JUMPING FROM A CLIFF INTO A RIVER. THE BOTTOM WASN'T DEEP ENOUGH AND HE HIT A ROCK .

UNFORTUNATELY, HE CUT HIMSELF BADLY AND SUSTAINED A MULTIPLE FRACTURE TO THE HEEL BONE.

A BACTERIA ENTERED THE WOUND AND IN ONLY A FEW HOURS THE INFECTION SPREAD.

CHRIS SUFFERS NOW FROM THE MOST SEVERE CASE OF GANGRENE. HE IS AT RISK OF AMPUTATION OF HIS RIGHT LEG AND EVEN MORE SERIOUSLY THIS CAN BE A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION.

THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF TRANSPORTATION INVOLVED IN ORDER TO FIND THE PROPER TREATMENT FOR HIS RARE CASE.

WE ARE NOW IN VERACRUZ CITY IN A PRIVATE HOSPITAL WHERE HE IS RECEIVING A TREATMENT CALLED HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY TWO TIMES A DAY, AND HAS RECEIVED MORE THAN 4 SURGERIES ONE FOR EVERYDAY THAT HE HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL IN ORDER TO KEEP THE INFECTION FROM SPREADING.

HE'S IN GOOD CARE WITH COMPETENT AND CONFIDENT DOCTORS AND THREE POWERFUL HEALING SISTERS. HE SEEMS IN GOOD SPIRITS AND IS SURROUNDED BY LOVE, BUT HIS CONDITION IS NOT STABILISED YET.

WE HAVE BEEN PERSONNALY FUNDING ALL THE EXPENSES AND OUR BUDGET HAS RUN OUT.

Reading Room is the new performance from award winning and critically acclaimed international choreographer and director, Jonathan Lunn. In a series of scenes, focusing on different lives and relationships it looks at the connections, disconnections, pacts, secrets and lies of our human interactions.

Each performance features a guest appearance from either Dexter Fletcher, Rebecca Hall, Toby Jones, Miranda Richardson or Juliet Stevenson reading the text live.

Reading Room includes “Self Assembly” , the Place Prize Finalist 2006, and “Disassembly” an additional section specially created for a different local dance company at each venue including EDge (the postgraduate performance company from London Contemporary Dance School), Bury Dance Company, Macrobert Youth Dance Company. about wupadupa

cake is a very important thing.

We are a group of musicans, artists and filmakers who put on events, often collaborating on projects. Recent events have included the string thing, mail art, phone art, film nights, sing things and house gigs.

we believe people should eat more cake so we usually provide free cake at our events and often put on events to raise money and awareness for charities including friends of the earth, the sudan appeal and amnesty freedom festival.
